Trudy Kockenlocker lives in the small town of Morgan’s Creek with her sister and her father, who is a policeman.

In the slang of the time, Trudy is “boy-crazy,” but the one boy she is not crazy about is the one who loves her, the town dork Norval Jones. Trudy uses Norval as a “blind” so she can date the more interesting servicemen stationed nearby. One of them was too interesting entirely. After a party, she thinks she might have married the fellow but doesn’t know his name or what he looks like. What she soon does know is that he left a remembrance. She is pregnant.

Norval does his best to marry Trudy, but mishap builds on misunderstanding and he is run out of town as a philanderer. The only thing that can save the situation is a miracle and they get it. Trudy gives birth to sextuplets, going the Dionne Quints one better. Now the mayor, the governor, and everyone protect the celebrities, giving them a quick wedding and everything they need for a happy life.

Note: Brian Donlevy played the small role of Governor McGinty in Miracle, a role he had created in an earlier Preston Sturges triumph, The Great McGinty.
